A Food Lovers Dream
As someone who grew up in The Bronx my whole life, with an insatiable appetite and palate. This weekly event is seriously a dream come true. Imagine getting on the train to head down to the city, just to search for something new and exciting, to satisfy the cravings of a flavor rush. Walking around for hours scoping different neighborhoods. Bookmarking, snapping pics of future food excursions. Then come home, plan out when, where, and at times, who to bring along for the experience.
Now if you are new here to the blog, channel, or my main home on IG. You must know, I first and foremost LOVE food. It has been my thing since forever and a day. Throughout the last several years there have been many events and places that have opened throughout NYC that bring together vendors of cuisines & products. They have become this great one stop shop to entice the senses. I’m talking about Smorgasbord, Chelsea Market, Eataly, Industry City & Dekalb Market Hall to name a few. The fusion of sights, sounds, from all over the world, in one area, is naturally a food lovers dream.
My sharing of food experiences was beyond just the meal. It’s the ambiance, the journey your taste buds will encounter. As well the minimal impact on your pocket, while still getting a wow experience. What these food halls bring to the table is like an appetizer sampler if you will. The vendors come from all over, whether they are just food trucks on a regular, or they own their own little shop somewhere around town. So imagine my excitement to hear of The Bronx Night Market’s arrival. Smacked in the middle of Fordham Plaza, right across from the Metro North, in heart of one of the busiest shopping districts in the borough.
This outdoor venture has been a warm welcome to the area. Bringing over not just local vendors but that of those across the city. Every Saturday from 12pm - 7pm, from now until November, you can indulge yourself from savory to sweets within a few feet of each other. Whether its fusion tacos from Gwan Gwan to the sweet stuff from Sam’s Fried Ice Cream, you can really can have it all here and honestly for less than $30 bucks. Especially if you include a couple of Truly’s Blend Lemonades at $5 a pop. Good vibes, good music and good times will be had. This can either be your pre-game spot to your day in NYC, or a come down after some good shopping has been done. Either way it’s going be worth the trip. Plus as a bonus you might even catch me there.
So come through The Bronx Night Market, support local businesses. Even if you go just once this year, that one trip can make someones dream a reality. Just like mine was to leave the city and experience the world one plate at a time. Share it with people I know and don’t know, to feel the love I feel for food. So take a trip to a borough that gets too much of a bad rep for no reason, when there is so much beauty within it. Now excuse me while I go over my list of new spots to go to. I’m getting hungry and the weather is getting better.
