Lucid Thoughts: Self Love

Waking up today on the 32nd day of the year, in the middle of a blizzard, amidst a panoramic, has been quite interesting. I laid in my bed, in the dark for a while, thanks to those blackout curtains! I was there in a refelct8ive thought, no coffee, no real wanting to get up as everything is/was pretty much closed today in NYC. As I contemplated what I should do with the rest fo my day, not like many options available given the weather today. I randomly laughed to myself. A moment I haven’t had in a while. yes I laugh to myself at times. The same way most you who are reading this, have convos with yourself, so don’t front like im the only one here. Thanks :)

I realized with all this talk of letting go, learning, embracing, and treating ourselves to great moments a la self care, there is that other part to us that we need to nurture. Think of it as the next step in your Self Care routine.

SELF LOVE

Just remember this is not just a day out of the week you take to feel better. It’s a process to bring about change for the long term. The meaning and definition, as I’m sure there are many, vary from person to person. It has evolved through the years. No different than what self care looks like to each individual. There is no right or wrong way to go about it. There is only thoughts, ideas, actions, and inspirations we can take and cultivate to fit our personal needs.

Self Love can be viewed as creating the boundaries to protect your mental health. Its unfollowing those pages and people that make you second guess your image and worth. Have you wondering if you are good enough to fit into someone else’s norm. Its surrounding yourself with the right people, wether in person, a FaceTime call, a group chat or convos on Discord. These people add to your purpose in life.

Now don't get me wrong, Its also not just the physical, we need to feed our spiritual throughout all this. Again just IMO. Sprituality is also something that can only be defined by oneself as well. I nourish mine through meditation, incense, music, and disconnecting from the physical world. Sometimes a posting of “words of affirmation” on my stories, or day like today where I can finally get words onto my blog. This is one form of therapy for myself. Getting back into my Yoga this week is very exciting as well. It’s been a long time but the benefits from it have always been great. So now seems to be a great time to bring it back, as we wonder how long we will be snowed in this week.

Side note: Sorry bout last week but seriously, writers block is weirdly real. My chakras weren’t aligned,. Or maybe it was my Venus rising in Aquarius that must’ve took a u-turn somewhere. Left me with a blank page I stared at for over a week and half.

So I urge you, take a moment, look back, review, redirect, and push forward for where you want to see yourself going. Self Love is the catalyst we need to get through the next 333 days of the year.

Have compassion for you.
